Sunday Simulacra - Version 6.15
Today's simulacra remind me that Summer's end is near.
The first comes from Sheila Rayyan who wrote: "Here's a photo a took in my yard. It's the shadow
of a goldfish tea light holder hanging in my garden."
Next, William Bearss is back with another contribution. He said: "My attraction to skulls has been passed on to my kids, my son Joey found this one."

Backyard C says:
As another summer wanes into history, I am still truly amazed by the amount of diversity in which simulacra appear. Before we know it the seasons will change again and we will start to see the ice and snow simulacra appearing again as the calendar year changes. Thank you both for another set of excellent simulacra.
Keep sending those pictures in, we always love seeing what our skull hunters find. Anyone is welcomed to participate, it's fun and it's easy- if you see a simulacra skull, photograph it and send those pictures in to our submissions address with a little something about what it is really and maybe a little about you.

Mummy/Sugar Skull
Straight out of Orange County, CA comes Dany Hernandez with this half mummy, half sugar skull that emanates the liveliness of death.
Even though the skull is a symbol of death, Dany has managed to take it one step further by separating and then combing lively skulls, and morbidly deceased ones. The shriveled and dried looking mummy gives extra life to the sugar skull, and the opposite holds true as well. Be sure to check out Dany's FB page for tons of other skulls as well. Thanks for sharing your symbol of duality, Dany!

“Skull-Kup”
Kenny O'Loughlin from Bend, Oregon told us: “I took a ceramic class recently and made this cup with inspiration from the site. ”

Flagon C says:
Raise a toast to you. This is a wonderful design that you were inspired to make the skull emerging from the vessel is an interesting variation to other inscribed typed of designs. Thank you for being a follower and also now for being a contributor.

Paisley Yumminess ...!
I was really excited to paint this piece, clearly inspired by the wearers skirt. Tedious work, but worth it ;)

Vignette Skull
Calyn Williams of Vignette Noir created this acrylic painting.
This type of vignette is an arrangement of objects in a pleasing manner. They can be a collection of related, or obscure items. It's most popular in home design, on surfaces and walls. In this case, Calyn had painted a striking vignette of a horned animal skull, a cardinal, and the remains of a clock. This appears to be her version of a coo-coo clock. I suspect that if this was an actual clock that when the clock struck a hour, an eerie sound would resonate from within the skull. To see more of Calyn's work check out her Facebook, Etsy, and Website.
